PICQS Organizes Donation Drive for Sendong Victims

PICQS yesterday launched its donation drive for the victims of tropical storm Sendong (International name: Washi). The initiative started early on with the Philippine Chapter and a handful of members of UAE Chapter. Since yesterday donations are now being solicited from members across all chapters.

The recent tropical storm Sendong that hit the Philippines brought heavy rains, flash floods and landslides that caused catastrophic damages including nearly a thousand people killed and over 140,000 affected of whom nearly half are children. Thousands of survivors in evacuation centres need immediate supply of basic needs and medicine.

In response to this calamity, donations were initially organized by PICQS Philippine Chapter and a number of UAE Chapter Members. As more members expressed their willingness to help and reach out, PICQS has decided to organize the donation drive across all chapters. In further support, the proceeds of the First General Assembly of PICQS this coming 23 December will be donated.

Collection of donations is being coordinated among the chapter committees. All donations will be coursed through ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya with whom PICQS Chair Julie Christie de la Cruz previously donated for families in need in Mindanao. Julie and Phil. Chapter President Jay Gandia will personally visit ABS CBN's Sagip Kapamilya warehouse at Quezon City Philippines.

It is hoped that everyone from PICQS will support this fund raising and extend their generosity to the survivors of typhoon Sendong who are now in grave need.

To all members: A letter about the donation drive containing details of how you can donate through PICQS was sent to your registered email with PICQS. If in case you have not received the email please get in touch with your Chapter President or any of your local committee members.
